Red Swirls

I took this photo at a depth of about 80 feet. My air supply was low, and I needed to ascend. But before I headed up, my eye was caught by a golden sheen on a black crinoid. Upon investigation, my flashlight revealed that the creature was not black, but rather a brilliant red. The filtering effect of the deep water had darkened its true color. This is a close-up of the crinoid, an animal witha a small central body and a multitude of swirling arms. I took four shots, then headed up, regretting I did not have more time to photograph this unusual specimen.
